Quilt Events - Here We Come!

Quilt Event #1 - Market is almost here!

The countdown has begun for Quilt Event #1 and we are so excited! Have you ever been to Quilt Market? This is our first time and we probably have no idea what to expect. LOL. All we know for sure is that we are wearing our walking shoes and ready to make some great connections. For those of you who don't know, the International Quilt Market in Houston is the largest quilt and trade show in the United States and it's only for those in the quilting business. People come from all over the world for Market. It's a wholesale trade show with quilting vendors including fabric companies, quilt shops, designers and so much more. They also have business seminars, classes, and lectures. Dates this year are October 28-30, 2023 so just three more sleeps!

Lisa is flying in from NC to stay with Christina who lives in the area. This will only be the second time we have met in person (even though we talk and video chat just about every day). I see shenanigans happening! We have a list of people to meet up with - current and potential clients, friends, and IG buddies. If you have not let us know you will be attending, drop us an email and we will add you to the list. We'd love to see you.

Quilt Event #2 - Quilt Festival is right behind

After going to Market, we are going to hang out and do some business work together, brainstorming, and growing Quilt Pattern Writers. Then we will be going to Houston Quilt Festival November 2-5. Lisa has to fly home on November 4 (hubby and furbabies await) but we are going to get in as much as we can. Christina has been to Festival many times having grown up in the area but this is Lisa's first time going.

Festival is different from than Market since it is open to the public. There are a bunch of classes and lectures and so many booths to purchase quilty things that we absolutely have to have! Are you going to Festival? If you are, drop us an email! We would love to meet you in person.

Then Quilt Event #3 - QuiltCon!

And, of course, there is QuiltCon coming up in February 2024. This is going to be fun because four (maybe 5) of us have rented an AirBnB in Raleigh. We all met in our small group during Elizabeth Chappell's Quilt Pattern Writing Course last year and we still video chat every 2-3 weeks. This will be our first time all being together in person and I'm sure we will be quite the talkative group!

QuiltCon is a bit smaller than Quilt Festival but the fact that it moves location every year means it is more accessible to everyone. It is still huge but bigger than most quilting events.

And let us not forget all the wonderful quilts that will be on display for all these events. It is an honor to any designer or quilt maker to have their quilts in these shows and, I for one, am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful artwork being hung.

What are your favorite quilting events? Quilt Week in Paducah (near the Quilt Museum) is another favorite of Lisa's. Please share your favorite - we might have to add it to our list of "must-attend" shows.
